World’s Thinnest 5 Megapixel CMOS Sensor

Sharp announced the release of the smallest 5Mpixel CMOS sensor in the world, the RJ63SC100. The 9.5- x 9.5- x 6.6-millimeters sized sensor is the industry’s thinnest, and will surely be ready for integration in the small cellphones of the future.
The sensor also minimizes noise, and the 5 million pixels CMOS will definitely weight in the image quality. Samples will begin being shipped at the end of this month, and the commercial products will be launched one month later, for an estimated price of about $96.
