World’s Largest LCD From Sharp Retails In Japan
The world’s largest LCD TV from Sharp is finally getting itself a price tag as it hits Japan shores for retail sale next week.
The 108-inch Sharp Aquos LB-1085, expected to be hounded by overpaid celebrities, sports personalities and the corporate sector, will cost 11,000,000 Yen, or roughly a little over US$ 100,000.
The mammoth full High Definition LCD screen boasts a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a 1,200:1 contrast ratio, 6ms response time, 176-degree viewing angle, 400 cd/m2 brightness, and supports 7.6 million colors. It utilizes three HDMI, one DVI and two component ports for its connectivity.
A couple of “con’s” is inevitable owing to its enormous dimensions. At 5 feet and 195 kg, it is not easily moved, and shipping may give rise to some issues. Also, the Aquo consumes approximately 1,130watts of energy.
At present, Sharp is believed to be the only company capable of producing monster-size LCD’s owing to the fact that they make the largest pieces of glass.
