Wibrain UMPC Is The Better Version Of Macbook Air

Wibrain released a new portable computer that has full functioning of a regular PC, but fits the palm of your hand. The Ultra-Mobile PC is a response to the Macbook Air that divided people into those who liked it and those who didn’t and, as the name says, it really is ultra mobile.
It has a weight of just over 500 grams (1.15 pounds) and it has the same power of components as a desktop computer: a 1.6 gigahertz processor, a 60Gb hard drive, Wifi and Bluetooth capabilities, a webcam and microphone for Skype and other communication programs and a resolution of 1024 X 600.
The system comes with Windows XP installed, and of course, has a full QWERTY pad and extra controls for games along with a touchscreen with stylus included. The device is already in retail, and you can get one for $850.

er, not at all the same ballpark. the lack of a full keyboard makes typing a pain rather than using the touch’s full size keyboard. i wonder what the battery life is like.
If only it didn’t have Vista on it it might actually be true!
April Fools?
Better than the MBAir? Hardly. Smaller, yes. I think the biggest problem I see here is the Windows install that comes with it. Also, does vista suck too bad to put on mobile PCs? I think this says a lot about MS’s current situation.
oh yeah, and what the fuck is going on with that keyboard? Fuuuuuuck that!
I like the form factor and technical details much better than an Air. Plus it runs windows, which all you linux and mac users can hate hate hate, but we all know its the dominant and most easily versatile OS on the market. Period. Tell me Linux is more intuitive or Mac is more versatile, please.
That looks an awful lot like vista -
Looks very cool nonetheless
DO WANT!
I hate when markets get divided into people who like things and people who don’t like things. That sucks. Thankfully, though, we finally have a competing product to the Macbook air. Oh, there’s also the Asus Eee, the Everex Cloudbook, the Sony Vaio UX Micro, the TabletKiosk, the Samsung Q1, the OQO model 2, the Raondigital EVERUN, the Northtec Gecko, the Nokia N810, the HP 2133, the Fujitsu Lifebook, the Elonex ONE, the HTC Shift, the VIA NanoBook, and Wibrain’s earlier UMPCs which are also dividing the market. Finally those sixteen companies will no longer have the market cornered.
Also, the image you’re showing is using Windows Vista, not XP.
Keep dishing out that mediocre news, Madalin.
Yeah, great. It also looks like a pile of shit. Looks like a c1990 Franklin Electronic dictionary.
The image shows vista, get a source and save your credability
April Fools, obv
wow. badly written press release. must be a horrid product if they can’t afford better for the people pimping the product.
Yeah, it’s better, except for…
1: It uses vista
2: It doesn’t have a full-size keyboard
3: It has a tiny-ass screen
4: With those specs, vista would run like molasses.
Holy cow, this hunk of crud is real:

the macbook air sucks anyway
you could get such a better computer for the price of the higher end air
$1000.00 of the price of any Mac is for shipping it out of China. Cult leader Steve Jobs outsources the building of Mac laptops to the Chinese in Shanghai, thus taking jobs away from Americans, and making us pay the freight. I worked for Apple for a year and 3 months, and quit. I could not stand the arrogance.
This is in NO way a response to the MBA. It was released far earlier. It also targets a completely different demographic and runs XP, NOT Vista (those pictures were supplied by the manufacturer, but there is NOT a Vista version). It is also available with Ubuntu Linux. The base model with Ubuntu costs $499 USD with a price drop supposedly on the way and sports a 1.2 GHz Via CPU, 30 GB PATA hdd, 512MB DDR2 SDRAM, wireless 802.11 b/g, built-in 1.3 MP webcam. The better version with Ubuntu is $649 and includes the same processor with a 60GB Samsung PATA hdd and 1GB of RAM. There is also Bluetooth in any of the Windows versions, but those are more expensive with the base model for $649 and better configuration for $799. There is no integrated microphone though.
There is also a docking station that is a CD-R/DVD-RW reader/writer, port replicator, stand, and 4 more USB ports in addition to the one already on the WiBrain itself. This also has one of the best value-specs ratio of any UMPC out there. The OQO model 02 configured with comparative specs is nearly $1000 more expensive than the base model WiBrain with Ubuntu and runs on the exact same processor.
Get your facts straight and out of Steve Jobs’ ass.
PS: For a LOT of people, Linux IS more intuitive than Windows and Ubuntu is meant to give a very similar GUI and experience as Windows for the Linux new/Windows-familiar users.
That’s supposed to say: “Get your facts straight and your head out of Steve Jobs’ ass.” Just wanted to clarify that. XD
