DARPA Develops a Modular Space System

I think everybody remembers DARPA, that “company” with very ambitious projects. Well, now they are working on a space system called System F6 which consists of a new space technology and architecture. System F6 will provide wireless power systems, electromagnetic formation flying systems and ultra-secure wireless data communications.
After the Vulture Program and the System F6, we certainly don’t know what to expect of DARPA, but we are sure that soon we will hear more from them.

VLA Radio Telescope To Get $94 Million Upgrade

Do you remember the Very Large Array or VLA radio telescope situated in New Mexico desert? Well he’s getting an upgrade. The plans are to transform it into Expanded Very Large Array. VLA is the one that discovered the ice on Mercury and now, with the help of the Expanded VLA you can have cell phone signal even on Jupiter. The upgrade will cost $94 million which seems to much, but it’s big step in the quest for finding new galaxies, stars or even aliens.

Japans Builds Space Systems To Produce Energy

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or shortly JAXA, is Japan’s national aerospace agency and its purpose is to develop and launch satellites into orbit. Their latest project consists of developing space solar systems which send power and energy to the earth.
On February 20th they will begin testing the microwave power transmission which is destined to beam to earth, through a 2.4-meter rectifying antenna, enough energy to power a household heater.
JAXA plans to build an entire space system of solar-power collectors in order to ensure the energy enough electricity to power 500,000 homes.

Space Tourism As Of 2009

Virgin Galactic is a company which is planning to send people to outer space. The space tourism company was founded back in 2004 and has its headquarters in New Mexico, USA. Chairman Richard Branson announced on Wednesday that they will start offering sub-orbital spaceflights next year. Also, he presented a model of the spaceship called SpaceShipTwo and said that the first tests will be made later this year.
The price for a spaceflight is $200,000 and they received around 200 orders until now from, we guess, eccentric rich people who want …
