Researchers from the UCLA have developed an artificial muscle that is self-healing and it generates enough energy to power up a portable device like an iPod or iPhone. Qibing Pei, one of the authors of the study, said that one day this technique could be used to create walking robots.
The artificial muscle was created from carbon nanotubes which were used instead of electrodes and as a result, the new muscle could expand itself by 200 percent when the electricity comes in and there is no way that the muscle will …

DARPA does it again. Now, their researchers are trying to build a mechanical nanocomputer and some reports say that they are very, very close. This mechanical nanocomputer will be heat-resistant and energy-efficient and it seems like they will be useful for cars, toys and for guns among others.
The secret of mechanical computers consist of the fact they don’t have solid-state transistors or conventional silicon chips, so they can operate at its best even at high temperatures. Also they don’t need so much power to perform and so they don’t require …

An Italian car designer, Leonardo Fioravanti, is the happy developer of a concept car which doesn’t need windshield wipers. The windshield is cleaning itself from water and dust. The prototype, called Hidra, uses an aerodynamic design in combination with four sophisticated surface-treatments in order to clean the windshield.
According to Leonardo, this nanotechnology can get into mass production in the next five years because it’s tested and it works very well on the Hidra Concept.
The idea of always having a clean windshield is starting to get to me and I really …

Researchers have managed to create a nano explosive combustible, from mixed nanomaterials that act as oxidizer and fuel. The combustible can generate shock waves that reach up to Mach 3. This nano smart bomb will be used to destroy cancer cells, without harming healthy cells.
The team is composed of researchers from the U.S Army and the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC) and they use nanothermite composites, made of inorganic oxidizer and metallic fuel, because of it’s good combustion characteristics. They managed to get a large contact area between the oxidizer and …
