Instructables Book Contest
[11 Jul 2008 | No Comment | ]

One of my FAVORITE websites, Instructables.com, is running an Instructables book contest and they want you to be in it!
O’Reilly’s Maker Media team (the folks behind MAKE Magazine) is going to publish The Best of Instructables Volume I this fall and over 100 Instructables will be in it.
Since there are now over 14,000 Instructables (yow!) on the site they are asking for your help to choose some of the Instructables that will be included in the book. To do this they are opening up The Instructables Book Contest to every …

DIY: Cool Sawed Off USB Drive
[18 Apr 2008 | No Comment | ]

Do you want to impress your friends with your USB drive ? There are a lot of options out there, but nothing compares with a DIY, because of it’s uniqueness. So what you have to do is get a USB cable, cut it off, break the connector and insert the USB drive into it. [28 Mar 2008 | No Comment | ]

[19 Feb 2008 | No Comment | ]

The Dynamitron is a 5 million particle accelerator, it’s bigger than a tube TV, but both use high voltage to send electrons to a target. The lightning bolts captured in a block made of clear acrylic glass are called Lichtenberg figures, they are called like this after …

Create Your Unique Physical Gmail Notifier
[18 Feb 2008 | No Comment | ]

Everybody likes having an email notifier so they won’t have to check their mail all the time, so they can buy one. For your Gmail you could buy a plastic cube that lights up when you’ve got a message in your inbox, or if you have a little imagination you could create one for yourself. You could start building your notifier by using only a LED to something more complicated like a robot for example.

DIY SSD Tested
[15 Feb 2008 | No Comment | ]

Solid State Disks or SSDs are being tested by “developers” in order to make them cheaper and to increase the capacity. The latest idea is to use a flash to SATA adapter. The usually price for this storage would be between $600 and $1000, but they managed to reduce the cost to an unbelievable $100. The results say that the DIY SSD are faster than the traditional drive available for MacBook Air, even fasterĀ than the Vaio Tz 64GB.
The tests were taken with the help of a 7200 rpmĀ 2.5-inch drive and …
