Sony Vaio LT19U Gets an Upgrade

29 August 2007 No Comment

Sony VaioEverybody will agree that the computer of the moment is the new iMac but this does not stop Sony from trying to get more money from consumers with a similar idea. The company just launched their new all in one computer with a small but important update. Once again we have the same problem: price! The new PC/Monitor from Sony is expensive if compared with the iMac at its $2,899 sales price. On the other hand it holds better specifications:

  • Widescreen LCD at a maximum of 1,680X1,050 resolution with 22 inch display
  • 2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667 MHz
  • 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 CPU
  • nVidia GeForce 8400 GT graphics card at 256 MB
  • 500 GB hard drive at 7,200 RPM
  • Windows Vista Ultimate included
  • ATSC and NTSC TV tuner
  • 802.11n wireless networking
  • Stereo Speakers of 3 watts and a built in 5 watt subwoofer
  • 1.3 megapixel webcam
  • Different Ethernet, audio, removable media and USB ports.
  • Blu-Ray burner

Many analysts consider the above mentioned selling price to be to high. Another version of the model, one that is slightly weaker and with a normal DVD Burner will also be available at $1,899. Apple Inc’s iMAC is better looking and affordable so one has to wonder of the possible success of Sony’s PC/Monitor.  Sony is continuously selling its brand, this meaning its products are more expensive just because they are tagged with the Sony name. One can only wonder how long this will last.
