Sony To Release CineAlta 4K Digital Cinema

 Sony is going to release a digital cinema in Japan, on May 1st. The CineAlta 4K digital cinema uses a SRX-R220 core, has a 4,096×2,160 pixels resolution and his 4.2kW bulb produces 18k lumens. The digital cinema is 5 foot big and weights 660 pounds.

The movies are 300Gb big, encrypted with the JPEG2000 format and stored in a 19″, LMT-100, RAID array. Sony hopes it will cover 1/3 of Japan’s cinemas with this solution, selling 1,000 units, priced at $12,651 or Â¥1.5 million and also hopes will sell in the US.
