Sony Launching VIA’s OpenBook

2 June 2008 No Comment

At the Quanta booth from WiMax Expo, Sony were caught presenting what seemed to be a generic prototype based on the Via OpenBook, thus joining the ultraportable, low-cost mini-laptop. The notebook unveiled a 1.6GHz Via C7-M processor manufactured by Sony.

When the Quanta executive realized it, he rushed to close the properties window, and declined to give explanations. Sony also refused to comment, so we can only conclude that it is true. It will be interesting to see how the partnership between Sony and Via Technologies will evolve.
