Siafu – The PC For Blind People
Today we bring good news for the visually impaired people. Jonathan Lucas has developed a PC, called Siafu, made of magneclay a concept material based on magnetized liquid. The computer creates a braille surface and also 3D pictures can pop-up from the device.
Magneclay is a synthetic material based on oil and its morphing ability has no limit. Siafu also features a built-in microphone and the words can appear on the screen in braille (of course).

That is very cool. Are there any other uses for the liquid?
How do you rickroll them?
Siafu is Japanese for African Driver Ants.
Just in case no one knew already. =]
I love the idea. Good stuff.
wow… that would be pretty amazing
lmfao… @ tha rick roll comment
WoW! this is cool….
Nice Post….
Augh, I totally invented this thing when I was, like, seven. I’ve been telling people this is exactly how a braille PC should work for ages. Maybe I should’ve told less people, eh? Ah well, better that it’s produced sooner for the blind to use anyway.
“Magneclay is a synthetic material based on oil and its morphing ability has no limit.”
So if it has no limit what will we be seeing it next?
This is nothing new. Braille displays have been around for probably 10 years. Coupled with a screen reader, this system does exactly the same thing that this device does. While this device is great, it really is nothing new. If you’re interested in Braille displays, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refreshable_Braille_display. They are available in both desktop and portable models. The portable models are designed to be the blind alternative to a PDA. However, that doesn’t mean that this isn’t cool, it’s just not that new and novel.
Word, Nathan, that link is kaput, yo.
Anyway, this shit up they is dank; I wants me a computer that can be used with my eyes closéd, like I am Ray Charles and shit.
Boogers.
YOOWWWWWWWWW.
