Shuttle XPC X200M Review

28 January 2007 No Comment

The Shuttle XPC X200M is a compact desktop, that has a lot of features for it’s low price of $1,149, like the TV Tuner or 802.11b/g WiFi. A big minus for it is the lack of HD DVD and it also lacks the possibility of adding one. It comes with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled and it runs smoothly, even if not as fast as other desktops in it’s class.Due to it’s low sizes, it uses a laptop processor, being a bit larger than the Mac Mini. The Shuttle XPC X200M comes with a DVD burner and, unfortunately, upgrading to Blu-Ray or HD DVD is not possible due to it’s motherboard.

It’s powered by a Intel Core 2 Duo T2300 CPU, at 1.67Ghz and 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, at 667Mhz, being powerful enough for the main tasks, but not quite a gaming system. The system has quite good configuration and has no problems running Windows Vista, which is very good, because it comes with it preinstalled.

Shuttle XPC X200M’s storage capacity is of 250GB, but is expandable to up to 750GB, being necessary for multimedia storage, like DVDs. The system also features a 4-in-1 media card reader.

It comes with a one year warranty and the phone support is toll free and available from 9 am to 5.30 pm, which is not the best, other companies offering 24/7 phone support.
