Sanyo Xacti CG65

20 March 2007 No Comment

The Sanyo Xacti CG65 is a digital compact camera. Even if it looks like a video camcorder (and can function like one, at VGA level), it is primarily a still camera, which brings to mind the Canon Powershot TX1’s form factor.
The Sanyo Xacti CG65 packs it in at 6 megapixels and 5x optical zoom. It also features what Sanyo claims to be a high-precision LSI (large-scale integration) engine III for image processing. That’s supposed to enable the Sanyo Xacti CG65 digital camera to realize image processing functions such as real-time MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression and noise reduction.
Users should find good use of its 2.5-inch LCD which flips out and rotates for composing shots at various angles. This new camera from Sanyo supports SDHC (high capacity SD) cards that currently stores 4GB to 8GB worth of pictures, up to 32GB soon.
When loaded with an 8GB SDHC card, the CG65 should be able to record about 6 hours of H.264 quality video at 640 x 480, 30fps, 3Mbps settings.
All these will cost you a little over $400 when the Sanyo Xacti CG65 comes out in Tokyo next month.
