Samsung’s Fin for Helio Review

18 August 2007 No Comment

Samsung FINSamsung just introduced the Fin mobile phone in Helio’s portofolio, making it the thinnest folder available in the US at the moment. With this occasion the Garmin Mobile for GPS-enabled voice-guided navigation debuts and we also have the addition of RSS feeds to Helio On Top (H.O.T.). This lets members sign up for different news updates and different information they want to see on their mobile phones.

Fin has been characterized as a powerhouse. It comes in blue-black magnesium and is just 11 mm deep, running on high-speed nationwide 3G. It features a 3 megapixel camera equipped with a 4X digital zoom, it comes with built-in Photo Studio, night mode shoot possibility and a QVGA display of 2.3 inch. Fin has 100 MB of internal memory and can be expanded by the use of MicroSD up to 4 GB. Different users require different features so we also have a HTML browser, the above mentioned GPS capability including Google Maps for mobile and Buddy Beacon, stereo Bluetooth and of course support for different media formats including MP3, AAC audio, H.264 and MPEG4.

If you like to keep in touch with friends via messengers you will love FIN. It comes with access to AOL’s AIM Service, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, email from Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Helio Mail, EarthLink email, Windows Live Hotmail plus the ability to add other email accounts through POP3 and IMAP.

HelioUP is another piece of software included, which lets you upload video and photos to sites like Flickr and YouTube by pushing some buttons. You can geo-tag photos and videos with location information and other metadata. Fin also takes advantage of the fact that HelioUP is the only mobile operator in USA that allows users to post geo-tagged images automatically to Flickr’s World Map. You can thus easily photo blog a road tip or party. Friends can access Flickr and see what happens and where it happens as it happens.

You can purchase Fin from Helio retail locations, online and from different other linked retail locations around the US. Price is $175 at the moment thanks to a $50 off promotion on Samsung devices. If you are a new member and want to purchase a Fin or any other Samsung device from Helio stores you will be able to take advantage of this promotion.
