Pioneer LX01: The Price Of Excellence

This collection of glossy, angular black boxes is simply a complete home entertainment solution that is, at the same time, haute couture. Just what you’d expect for its premium price.

Plug in an HD source via HDMI 1.3 and you’ve got the best image and sound quality this side of separates, with spotless images and uncompressed HD sonics gushing from the satellites.

Throwing gizmos at you with merry abandon, the LX01 also sports a 250GB hard drive, 1080p upscaling, DVD recording, HD audio support, an iPod connector, and 5.1-channel surround from 4.1 speakers, thanks to some fancy center-channel playfulness. It’s got the lot, and it’s surely worth the cash.

Except for its annoyingly large sub and complicated remote controls, it’s not a tough deal falling for the LX01’s phenomenal performance, versatility, connectivity and generally stealthy design.
