Picasa Gets A Google Upgrade - Picasa 3
With Google’s new nifty browser Chrome getting all the press, they’ve quietly put out Picasa 3. Picasa is Google’s photo sharing service and it just got a whole lot of attention with some very exciting upgrades. And like most of Google’s products, its free and striving to be as simple as possible.
Today, the average digital camera users has hunderds or thousands of images that sit on the PC or in a photo-sharing site unnamed. Picasa aims to change that. Picasa will automatically group your photo’s based on who is in the photos. That is right, Picasa will scan through your photos recognizing faces and group them accordingly. Google calls it an advanced clustering technology that allows you to group photos based on who is in them. All you have to do is add a couple of “name tags” to photos of people and Picasa takes care of the rest.
For me, that is equal parts freaky and cool. I am unsure if it is something I’d use. Perhaps except to rid your collection
