Nintendo Wii Consoles Not Available in Stores

The Nintendo Wii is becoming more popular by the day. We now have an interesting situation: demand is higher than supply. To get your hand on one of the consoles you will have to be among the first to arrive at the stores when new batches appear. A Wii costs $250 retail price but you can find units being sold at prices between $350 and $600 on Amazon.com. Chris Byrne, an independent toy analyst declared:
“The PlayStation 1 was certainly a big introduction, but I don’t recall any game system more than six months after its launch still having this kind of demand.â€
Production was increased in the past few months but still there is no way of coping with the demand. Sony’s PS3 was launched days away from Wii and is currently available in many locations online and in stores. On the other hand sales lag behind the Wii, mainly because of the high cost: $600. Nintendo sold more than twice as many video game consoles when compared to Sony. The company is trying to cope with the demand and production is expected to increase in the near future.
