Mozilla Firefox 3- Has it created a record?

It seems that Mozilla Firefox version 3 has created a sort of a record as the Mozilla Corporation seems to have logged nearly 8 millions downloads on the very first day!
Though the first day was expected to be a great day for the launch but a 5 fold increase in the audience when compared to its previous launch Firefox 2 was probably not expected as the servers were down and it was only back in the afternoon when people could start downloading again.
The question is that will Mozilla Firefox 3 with its newly improved features be able to beat the Internet Explorer and be the most popular web browser!
