iRiver Clix (2GB)
This is basically just an improved version of the iRiver U10. Dimensions are 2.7 by 1.8 by 0.6 inches, weighs 2.5 ounces. The display is as big as 2.2-inches and has a resolution of 320×240-pixels. The design makes it look like a miniature TV, and it has an enhanced user interface. Since this device was born from the colaboration of Microsoft, iRiver, and MTV, it seemes somewhat natural that it’s integrated with Windows Media Player 11 and MTV Urge.
There are some buttons on the side, but you can navigate just by pressing the four sides of the display, a technique iRiver calls D-Click.
You can get your way around it with just one hans, but in this case, two are definetly betterthan one. The remainder of the controls are placed around the edges and the top. When you buy it, they also give you an FM tuner (with up to 20 presets) and a voice recorder; you can also get cradle pack ($69.99) and an accessory kit ($29.99).
Although the software is only at it’s beta version, and has some tiny bugs, management is
simple, you can play flash games (which are quite colorful) and it supports MPEG-4 video; once in the menu, you can shuffle your playlist content at any time, view content by
name, genre, artist and playlist.
The audio features are very good as well, even when played loud (and it can be played very loud) you get clear highs and tangible lows.
If you pair it up with some headphones you probably get the most of it; the battery lasts about 18-19 hours of music, the battery life being about 25 hours. The transfer speed is almost at 4.0 MB per second.
All in all, very good performances, stylish, easy to use, but the screen will probably get dirty
and full of fingerprints, but at $169.99, it’s worth it.
