Google has unveiled a great technology, for those that doesn’t own a GPS-equipped cell phone, the phone locater. Unfortunately, this is not as precise as the GPS, but can locate the cell within 3 miles of it’s location. It has some good parts, in comparison with the GPS, it drains less battery and also works indoor.
Currently, it’s only working in the US, almost all Europe, New Zealand, The Russian Federation, Taiwan and Australia, lacking both China and Japan. Google will probably use this technology to show location targeted ads.
