Gateway FX530XTX Reviews

The Gateway FX530XT is a wannabe high-end gaming desktop PC, with dated components. The PC is priced at $3,660 and comes with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled. This and the high memory of 4GB makes it look like a good deal, but the graphics card is a big lack and the 3D tests prove it.

Gateway FX530XTX

It comes with a overclocked quad core CPU, at 3.2Ghz, an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 and 4GB of 667Mhz DDR2 RAM memory. It uses the Intel 975X chipset and supports dual graphic cards using the ATI CrossFire technology. It’s graphics are powered by a Radeon X1950 XTX, paired with the CrossFire card, which scores very low to the 3D tests, ran in last generation games, like Quake 4 or F.E.A.R. There are a lot of PCs that score higher even with only one graphic card, like the GeForce 8800 GTX. Also, it’s graphics card doesn’t even support DirectX 10, while it’s Nvidia competitor does.

Gateway may have success against it’s competitors, if it offered the GeForce 8800 GTX card instead the Radeon X1950 XTX, being cheaper.
