Fabric To Help Your Heart Beat

A team from the Leeds University has design a concept to help people with heart problems live longer, without drugs. The device doesn’t damage the body’s immunity or cells, like an artificial heart, being a less invasive alternative. It is built from a biocompatible material that no body will reject, so there won’t be any problems.
It is in a web form and it wraps around the heart, without coming in contact with the blood stream. It features sensor that recognize when the heart wants to beat and then it’s miniature motors trigger and contract the web, increasing the pressure.
David Keelink, a PhD student stated that “It’s a really simple concept that works in the same way as when you squeeze a plastic bottle, forcing the liquid inside to rise.”
Unfortunately, the device is only at prototype stage and we have no clue when it might be used on humans.
