Eye-Fi Secure Digital Memory Cards

Wi-Fi Chip

Eye-Fi plans to release special Secure Digital Memory cards aimed to be used in a combination with Wi-Fi chips. The result will be placed in digital cameras and will make it possible for users to send pictures to photo sharing sites or even to their personal computers. Eye-Fi is already in open negotiations with several photo sharing services in order to get a collaboration set up.This secure digital memory card is said to cost around $100 but no memory capacity indication was stated. Rumors say they will be able to hold around 2 GB, a very good amount if you are thinking that the medium picture size for home users is around a top 1 MB.

Eye-Fi cards will be designed to meet standard SD card sizes and also needs enough room to integrate the Wi-Fi chip. Another added feature will make it possible for network connections to automatically close in order to save battery life when pictures are not being shared. By integrating a wireless functionality on the Eye-Fi card itself there will be no problem of interference appearing with the camera. The camera’s processor will not be a worry for the user and by combining this with top easiness in use transforms in a great deal for both professional and amateur photographers.

Cameras that had Wi-Fi functions integrated have not been successful so far. The announced price of $100 is also higher than the regular SD card’s. A 2 GB SD memory card can be purchased at under $30 so there is a need to come up with a very good product in order to succeed. Specialists stated that eliminating the free USB cord in the home environment will not be enough for things to change.
