Dell Latitude D620 Review
Dell has released a new version of the D620 business notebook, with a 14.1 WXGA display. The display has a native resolution of 1,280×800. The Dell Latitude ATG D620 has improved mostly the port protection, extra armor, HDD protection and it allows outdoor using, because of it’s 500 nit display.
The Dell Latitude D620 is powered by a 2.0Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, has an ATG shock mounted 1.8 inch HDD @4,200 RPM, with 80GB storage capacity. Also, it has 1GB of DDR2 RAM, at 667Mhz, expandable to 4GB, currently 2×512MB, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950.
It’s connectivity is provided by the 802.11a/b/g Dell Wireless 1490, HSPDA Dell Wireless 5700 Mobile Broadband from Sprint. It has four USB ports, PC Card slot type I/II, VGA, infrared, RJ-11, RJ-45, headphone output, docking connector and AC power.
Curiously, it comes with Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2 preinstalled, when out there all the new laptops come with Vista. It has a 8X DVD +/- RW, Integraded Smart Card reader, RPM 1.2 Security Chip and it’s weight is 6.3 lbs. It’s sizes are 13.27 inches width, 1.72 inches thick and 9.38 inches depth.
The Dell Latitude D620 is more on the business side and has a widescreen format, as we got used to this days. The rugged laptop is extremely resistant and can even be used on the beach. It’s case and components are protected from scratches, breaks and spill ins. Unfortunately, the plus of safety adds weight to the laptop and makes it more and more not portable and why would you use an ATG laptop in your home ?
One minus of those kind of laptops is that they’re rugged, but their performance is not the best, so they’re not quite high end laptops, but this Dell is quite good, in comparison with other rugged. It’s performances are good enough and as a general opinion, it’s a great rugged one.
