The world’s largest LCD TV from Sharp is finally getting itself a price tag as it hits Japan shores for retail sale next week.

The 108-inch Sharp Aquos LB-1085, expected to be hounded by overpaid celebrities, sports personalities and the corporate sector, will cost 11,000,000 Yen, or roughly a little over US$ 100,000.

Part of home sweet home’s “sweet” characteristics are kids having a blast playing, throwing toys and things in different directions, or running around the house endlessly chasing one another. These are joyous moments, undoubtedly. But more often than not, these very same occasions take their toll on helpless household appliance and equipment. Like the HD TV.

The good news is: we can now say goodbye to the scary thoughts of sticky fingers, scratches and splashes, cracks and other forms of impact damage to our television screens.

 Mvix has just released a HD media streamer with quite usual features nowadays, like a HDD slot, Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n WiFi, along with a lot of supported file formats. The MX-780HD can play DivX, XviD, AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, AAC, OGG, AC3, MP3, WMA, JPEG and much more, it sports coaxial / optical audio ports and a front LCD display. It’s price isn’t that high and it seems to be worth $299.99.

Sharp VA3A5JZ922

How small do you think world’s smallest TV Tuner is ? Just look at the picture above to view Sharp’s latest, that’s even smaller than a ¥1 coin. The VA3A5JZ922 is 35% smaller than it’s competitors, with 5.9 x 5.9 x 0.9 mm. Also the 1seg tuner isn’t extremely pricy, at $185, but you have to wait a bit until mass production is September.

super hi-visionThe 1080p generation seems to come to an end due to the Japanese Government, that announced it’s plans to develop Ultra High Definition ( or Super Hi-Vision ) standards by 2015. What does this mean ? Well, a resolution of 33 megapixels ( 7,680×4,320 ) and a 22.2 channel surround sound.Until now they have problems with building the camera to record videos at this quality and the equipment to transfer it, because it’s a 24Gbps stream. This year they’ve invested about $2.7 million, having a joint project with private companies that might manage to take this project to an end.
