Masi “Hiro” Oka chosen as OLPC global ambassador

Hiro, from the drama series Heroes has been chosen as global ambassador for the OLPC ( One Laptop per Child ) project.Masi Oka, the actor behind Hiro has been nominated for Emmy and Golden Globe and is the star of NBC. From now on, he will appear in online and TV public service announcements to promote the OLPC project, first named as the $100 laptop.

Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car announced

More and more electric cars are being released and Mitsubishi couldn’t stay apart from this, so at the Tokyo Motor Show they announced the compact i-MiEV car. It will be powered by a pack of Li-ion batteries, that will offer the car an autonomy of 100 miles.

First plug-in hybrid luxury car announced

A great plug-in hybrid luxury car has been announced by Fisker Automotive to be released next year at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The company will produce about 15,000 cars annually, being priced at a bit less than $100,000.
The car uses the latest hybrid technologies, developed by Quantum Technologies, being produced exclusively for Fisker Automotive. This car is developed both to protect the environment and also be a luxurious, powerful hybrid plug-in concept.

Silicon nanowire converts light into energy

Solar cells have been developed by scientists that state they can convert solar light into energy to power the future nanotechnology. There are a lot of ways those cells can be used, including body diagnostics, from the inside to biological terrorism.
The light will be converted into energy through silicon nanowires, that each strand can develop up to 200 picowatts. There isn’t much energy, but for their size it’s enough, as ultralow electronics will be powered.

There different rumors going on that Apple just purchased all of the upcoming Penryn 3.2GHz processors. We can combine this with the upcoming Mac Pro. Apple did not gain popularity when they cut the price of their 8GB iPhone by $200, all just 2 months after the popular mobile phone debuted.
