Google has started an ambitious project to digitally archive millions of pages of old newspapers.
In 2006, Google started working with the New York Times and the Washington Post to index existing digital archives and make them searchable via Google’s search technology. The new effort expands that initiative, with the goal of reaching every story ever printed, “from the smallest local weekly paper up to the largest national daily,” according to a post on Google’s official blog.

With the launch of its browser yesterday, Google staked claim to one of the few areas of the Internet where it didn’t already have a foothold and ratcheted up its ongoing competition with the behemoth Microsoft.

It seems that Mozilla Firefox version 3 has created a sort of a record as the Mozilla Corporation seems to have logged nearly 8 millions downloads on the very first day!
Though the first day was expected to be a great day for the launch but a 5 fold increase in the audience when compared to its previous launch Firefox 2 was probably not expected as the servers were down and it was only back in the afternoon when people could start downloading again.
