Tuesday unveiled the first cellphone that runs Google Inc.’s Android software, a device packed with features that include an advanced Web browser and a number of Google services to spur wider use of the Internet on phones.
The device, which is called the G1 and carries the Google brand on the back, resembles other smartphones on the market — including Apple Inc.’s iPhone and handsets made by LG Electronics Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. But the companies are betting that the built-in software will help it stand out.
