It looks like IBM has magical powers. They used their spells to attract a new partner for the chips which are using 32-nm circuitry. Hitachi is the latest company that signed a two-year deal and they joined the party consisting of AMD, Toshiba, Freescale, Sony, STMicroelectronics, Infineon, Chartered and Samsung. The only company that doesn’t want to involve in this manufacturing process is , of course, Intel which still uses the 45-nm chips.

Intel has just made official that it will rename it’s chips to Atom and Centrino Atom. It was the case because the names they were using were quite hard to keep in mind and the new ones are definitely more easier and sound better. The Silverthorn and Diamondville chips were renamed Atom, while the Menlow platform is now called Centrino Atom. Intel’s 45nm Atom and Centrino Atom technologies are headed to UMPCs and other small low-voltage devices. We should soon see PCs with Intel Atom and Intel Centrino Atom stickers.
