XBOX Live Arcade Goes PC

Microsoft announced at Gamefest that the company will be releasing a new update this holiday season. It will be for their Games for Windows Live development tools, which allow developers to put their XBox Live Arcade games on PCs. It is still not known which titles will be available or how the system will work. Blizzard Sued by Founder Electronics Co.

Chinese IT firm Founder Electronics Co. is currently suing the developer of one of the most successful games ever, World of Warcraft. The reason stands in using some of its fonts without any permission. The company claims it lost around 132 million dollars (around one billion yuan) because of the unauthorized use of five fonts.
Founder thus filed an “interim claim” at a court in Beijing seeking for 100 million yuan in damages against Blizzard Entertainment, a Shangai based IT firm called The9 (they run the game in China) and Qinqwentuwen …

Nintendo Conquered UK

Nintendo is still dominating the UK video game scene. Of the top 10 selling games in the last week, 8 are exclusive games for Nintendo’s Wii or DS handheld console. What is interesting is that the other two titles are multi-format games that can also be played on Nintendo machines.Number one on the list was Transformers, a title based on the movie that is an all-platform game. Madden NFL 08 Hits Stores Next Week

Madden NFL 08 is set to appear in stores next week and is promising to offer finer controls over players, smoother visuals and an increase in dramatic action. Lead producer for Madden, David Ortiz declared:

Microsoft Lowers XBox 360 Prices By 17 Percent

Microsoft Corporation will cut the price of the Xbox 360 game console by around 13 percent in USA, in a move that is hoped to boost sales leading up to the holiday season (one targeted by many marketing strategies from different companies including competition). This move translates in a lowered price by $50, leading to a final amount of $350. Nintendo Wii Consoles Not Available in Stores

The Nintendo Wii is becoming more popular by the day. We now have an interesting situation: demand is higher than supply. Microsoft introduces Xbox 360 Elite in Japan

According to Microsoft Corp. the advanced version of their Xbox 360 video game console called Xbox 360 Elite will be launched in Japan on October 11. This is because Xbox 360 sales in the country are far less than that of competitors Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Co. LTD’s Wii.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time the best game on Edge Magazine

A recent poll organized for the readers of Edge Magazine and industry experts tried to put together a list of the top 100 games of all time. Sony PlayStation Icon Replaced

Ken Kuturagi, the chief architect of Sony’s PlayStation console just stepped down as the company is struggling to defend their once dominance in the video game industry. The former 56 year old Sony Computer Entertainment’s chairman and group chief executive will be replaced by Kazuo Hirai. Kuturagi was released a year ago from responsibilities as president but remained as acting chairman and chief executive. Sony to Lower PS3 Price

The inevitable occurred! Sony is forced to think about how much it can cut down sales price for its PlayStation 3 console. The competition (Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360) offers lower prices and this makes gamers want PS3 cheaper. Sony’s chief executive said in a statement:
