Do you want to impress your friends with your USB drive ? There are a lot of options out there, but nothing compares with a DIY, because of it’s uniqueness. So what you have to do is get a USB cable, cut it off, break the connector and insert the USB drive into it. Now your USB Drive will look like a cut USB cable and you can say that someone cut it while was connected to your PC.
Of course it’s not that simple, but you’ll get the idea in this tutorial.
I am guessing that many of you are fond of LEDs because they just happen to have a special brightness of their colors. If you were thinking to buy some LEDs, I think that you will be happy to hear that you can do it yourself. You will need an old VCR but if you already thrown those things away, a CD-ROM will be just fine. Charles Palen used his VCR, pinwheels, wiring and some power tools, but it will be better if you watch him in action in the video below.

For your Gmail you could buy a plastic cube that lights up when you’ve got a message in your inbox, or if you have a little imagination you could create one for yourself. You could start building your notifier by using only a LED to something more complicated like a robot for example.
