NEC Will Launch Its Own Curved Dispay

NEC’s Curved Display

Just like Alienware, NEC has launched its own curved display. Although everybody is impressed by DLP display, they shouldn’t ignore the CRVD-42DWX+ display that NEC brought at CES. Theoretical they are very similar, the curved display is a 2880×900, double WXGA+ (if anybody is interested), with a contrast ratio of 10000:1. We suppose that NEC’s display is built by the same manufacturer that built Alienware’s product , Ostendotech. Also we suppose that they will start shipping in the second semester of this year, but they didn’t announce the price so all gamers can sit back and watch some photos for now.

Alienware’s Curved DLP Display

Altough it was developed by an ODM named Ostendotech it will be a product of Alienware. It’s expected to process every image at best quality and to support the majority of games without problems. The perfect position for viewing is from a distance of two feet.

Aquos presentation screenshot

A new range of AQUOS LCD television sets were recently launched by Sharp, marking the debut of the XL2E series. They will not be as thin as the previously unveiled prototype and will come in three sizes of 52, 46 and 42 inches. As you would expect these days, Sharp’s HDTVs are full high definition ready and offer 100Hz technology. Probably looking to be on the same scale as a lot of standards, XL2E were also tagged as 24p. This stands for 24 images per second and is the exact same speed that is used in cinemas. The HDTVs show a contrast of 10,000 to 1 when dynamically measuring and 2,000 to 1 in panel contrast. We have a built in DVB-T tuner and an analogue tuner together with nice features including YUV connection, VGA input and not one but three HDMI connections. Audio quality is supported by SRS true Surround.

The three TVs announced in the XL2E series are: LC-24XL2E, LC-46XL2E and the LC-52XL2E. All will be available later this year but price is still not known. Sharp will also launch 5 new 1080p TVs outside of the X20E series with models coming in 52, 46, 42, 37 and 32 inch models. All five of them will support 1,080 pixels and will be tagged as 24p while coming with over three HDMI inputs with HDCP connectivity to HD sources, 2 scart connections, a slot for CI cards (for paid TV) and YuV connection. The five new AQUOS Full HDTVs are the LC-32X20E, LC-37X20E, LC-42X20E, LC-46X20E and LC52-X20E, all coming at the end of this year.

You can get more vivid pictures than before, the scene or content wouldan’t be a problem. The LT46FN97 has a incredible picture quality. For this you should thank the JVCÕs Genessa 32-bit CPU video processing, that is part of JVC’s 5th generation DIST (Digital Image Scaling Technology). The standard definition signals are improved by new Natural Progressive IP conversion, it has improved a scaler performance and a new PLL system wich improves the performance of a composite signal.
The Genessa video processor has a Digital Video Noise Reduction, wich reduces the “graininess” for the analog and the digital video source. The Block Noise Suppressor detects and eliminates the Ã’block noiseÓ, and the Mosquito Noise Suppressor eliminates noise from a low bit-rate signal without degrading the image, and the 3D Y/C comb filter with DTV Cross Color Eliminator that has a very advanced 10-bit 3D Y/C separation process that will eliminate the cross color and the dot interference that’s imbedded in older source material.
You will get 480p, 720p and 1080i high-definition viewing thanks to the built-in digital ATSC tuner, that pulls the HD signals from the airwaves. Another feature is that you can set it to an optional receiver or a cable/satellite set-top box choosing between the dual HDMI and the dual component connections. The QAM tuner is compatible with the unscrambled HDTV cable reception , and it also includes a standard analog NTSC tuner that receives standard-definition programming.
The screen is set to a 16:9 aspect ratio, with a 178-degree viewing angle, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, with a 1000:1 contrast ratio.
With the Natural Cinema features you can get a 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, so you can watch progressive-scan movies programs in their native 24-frame format.

The audio performance is very good, it has been improved by MaxxBass, with the digital signal processing that will extend the perceived bass performance, and the built-in parametric equalizer for more accurate frequency response. The speakers are built-into the front of the screen and they can produce 10 watts of power per channel for 20 watts of total power. You can get also virtual surround sound, advanced tone correction and a volume limiter.
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV–all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections.
The video component features a three-jack video input, that can provide separate connections for luminance , blue color difference and red color difference, resulting a increased bandwidth for color information and more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite connections.
With the LCD HDTV you will also get a removeable stand, remote control (with batteries) and printed operating instructions at the price of $2,399.
