Traffic Cameras, Confuted by Study

Traffic Camera

A study conducted by the University of South Florida shows that red-light cameras are not as wondrous in fixing the traffic as we thought. Barbara Langland-Orban, professor and chair of health policy and management at the USF College of Public Health, stated that these cameras increase crashes and injuries probability as drivers try to abruptly stop at camera intersections.

Red-light cameras are used to take a snap-shot of a car’s license plate if the driver doesn`t stop at a red light. This study formulates the idea that drivers are paying more attention when cameras are not present, rather than when they are.

The cameras are often coupled with the shortening of the yellow light timing, to increase the number of tickets generated, as drivers think they have more time until the red light goes on.

Panasonic PV-GS80 Review

The camcorders might look not being appreciated , but they are really important for every camcorders line . Their design is really nice , and are very affordable , everyone can buy one just for a few hundred dollars . But we can’t compare them with the high class models .

The GS80’s simple design , makes it look like almost all the minidv camcorders . It’s easier to use than you thought . With the simple scheme you can record something without touching any button of the menu , it’s very simple , we can all use them . but ,if you really want to see what’s about with the menu buttons , you can use the small joystick set into the mode dial . If you might want to be pro you can also see what’s about with the advanced menu , but here you will find just a few settings of the video .

Panasonic PVGS80 DV

Like many minidv camcorders, the Panasonic PV-GS80 has some interesting features too . Its 680,000-pixel sensor records about 340,000 pixels at 4:3 and 460,000 pixels at 16:9 (wide-screen) . What you might not like at this camcorder it’s recording higher-resolution wide-screen video and not simply cropping its 4:3 video but it won’t bother you if the both aspect ratios use such a small, low-resolution sensor . With this Panasonic camcorder you can zoom for 32x with optical image stabilization but , unfortunately it doesn’t have Leica original lens , like almoust all the panasonics .The GS80 camcorder really produces nice videos , the colors look very neutral and accurate . But if you would try to see the videos filmed with this camcorder on a very big screen , it would look awful because its standard definition video tends to look blown out and jagged when upscaled on modern HD screens . Even enabling Night Mode or Panasonic’s Best Pix mode yields no significant difference when shooting in the in 50-watt-lamp darkness . If you really want to have plenty of light every time you want try to buy a little bit better camcorder , just spending 40-50 $ more (like an example you could try the GS85) . It’s almost like the GS80 but when you will want light ..you will have it ! . The Panasonic PV-GS80 has a photo button too … but It’s more useless because It caputers a still image and records that still to 7 seconds of video .

All in all the GS80 is a decent camcorder, very good for beginners but if you want better quality in what you bought you should buy a little bit better one .

Icron offers USB 2.0 over power line solution

Despite not having overwhelming success in any one category, almost everything has tried to take advantage of traveling on pre-existing power lines, but Icron seems to be the first one trying to offer USB 2.0 connectivity using this medium. Taking advantage of Panasonic’s HD-PLC technology (High Definition Power Line Communication – lets you transfer video through the power lines in your house -) and it’s ExtremeUSB communication that we can observe in a wireless USB endeavor, Icron’s connectivity solution extends common USB cables using direct connection via pre-existing power lines, providing remote connection of devices such as flash drives, printers, keyboards, hard drives, web cameras and all other USB competent devices over the AC outlets in your home or office. The testing of the revolutionary system featured a four-port USB 2.0 OPL hub and dongle that reached 190 Mbps over standard power lines, with no need of drivers or software to ensure communication from a PC to any device. Communication between the two components is guaranteed for any computer running Windows, Linux and OS X systems. The release date of the USB outlet it not yet been set but we wouldn’t rush on buying a set before concluding ourselves some tests.

Canon HV20 Camcorder

canon_hv20.jpg

I had high hopes for the new Canon HV20, but when I saw it for the first time I couldan’t see any difference between it and the Sony HDR-HC7. They have almost the same size and shape and they both produce a great image.
When you look at the HV20 , you can see the retractable shaped lens cover .This may seem for a consumer cam just a perk ,but meanwhile the lens cover could become one of the camcorder’s first casualties. On the left side of the lens you can find a vertical panel that encompasses, from the top: flash, instant AF sensor and a mini video light.

The flash is positioned to the left of the camera and behind the lens. In some situations the lens barrel could cast a shadow. The instant AF sensor is located below the flash. It can be used to adjust quickly to changes in the focal distance or when you move really fast. But in case you use a wide or a telephoto lens, you need to make sure that the AF mode is set to normal AF ,because the instant AF sensor will be obstructed. The mini video light which is placed on the HV20 looks like a very cheap LED light would, and its the same one that’s placed on the Canon’s entry-level ZR850. But it is a convenient way to illuminate dark places, so you can now interview your subjects in the closet if you want. The remote sensor is placed by the mini video light. The HV20’s front end is similar to the HC7,but the HV20 can give you more features than the HC7, for an example it has a bigger filter diameter, and is lower and wider than it.
If you look from far away, the right side of the HV20 as you might think it has a familiar horizontal design akin to the Sony HC7. But only on the HV20, can you find the microphone jack, AV/headphone jack, and the component terminal that’s hiding behind a rubberized port cover toward the lens end of the camcorder. The camcorders hand strap is very low strung and a bit awkward. It’s made from cheap plastic . The top loading tape hatch on the HV20 will open and close at a faster rate than most of the camcorders in is class. This is a good thing for the filmmakers who are on a tight time schedule and who can’t afford to sacrifice theyr time due to a vexing bottom loading tape hatch. You can get an additional grip with the three wave-like grooves, which provides the palm of the hand with a nice little massage.
On the top left side of the tape hatch you can find two raised oval switches one of them is the auto/P switch, and the other is the tape/memory switch.Theyr placement is a bit awkward, but you don’t need to acces these controls many times when trying to film something or someone.

You can notice that the back of the HV20 is very “fat” and wide. The HV20’s battery chamber does not delve into the body as deeply as the HC7.If you will upgrade the power supply, you can be greeted with the full battery. The HC7’s viewfinder is wide, retractable, and has a rubberized ring. In the right of the battery you can find a strip, containing the FireWire and the HDMI terminals. Canon finally added a red dot on the record start/stop button. The function menu button is right beneath the joystick, the place where it should be to ensure the better and rapid menu selections. Above the joystick you can see the mode dial, which if you want it can be switched into camera or play. The HV20’s design is very cool,it’s a metallic, two-tone body with curves while the HC7 is all about bold and chunky lines. The HV20’s 2.7” wide LCD screen shows us a panel of flattened playback buttons located on the bottom edge of the LCD panel. On the HV20, all that you can find is a the Mini SD card slot (that’s protected by the rubberized door), USB terminal, and the round shaped playback speaker.
Toward the lens end you can find the built-in stereo microphone, that’s programmed to pick up the sounds from action directly in front of the camcorder. The only downside is if you accidentally put the fingers across on the mic while recording. An option that affected my decision was the zoom toggle. This is one of the worst zoom toggle from Canon that I’ve seen in years.

Sony Handycam FX7 Review

The Sony Handycam HDR-FX7 is a camcorder with a excellent video quality, good focus and zoom, but lacks audio quality. It’s not the cheapest camcorder, being priced at $3,500, but it has great HD abilities, with good sensors and optics. It uses three ClearVid CMOS chips of 1 megapixel each, drawing less battery than the CCDs.It uses a 2,200mAh NP-F570 battery with a lifetime of 8 hours and, including it and the tape, it weights 3.3 pounds. But that’s the small battery, having the option to choose the 6,600mAh NP-970, that has a lifetime of 24 hours, three times longer.

Sony Handycam FX7

It has a compact design, to take less space and being more comfortable to use. The focusing works excellent, when used in conjuction with it’s Expanded Focus button, which is designed to be exactly under the user’s left thumb. The camera features an EF mode that zooms in the middle of the area, so you can easily focus manually. There also is an autofocus lock, that the user can tweak manually, so it’s easier and faster to focus on hard to lock objects.

There are 6 buttons that can be assigned with 6 of 15 controls, three under the LCD and three on the barrel. Also, there are buttons for shutter speed, gain and white balance.

The Sony Handycam FX7 has a lot of features, like the 1080i HD video recording, 1/4″ ClearVid sensors, 20x optical zoom, Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens and Sony SteadyShot, the image stabilizer.Unfortunately, it’s support for audio recording is really low, with only one input volume control, a jack for microphone and one for headphones.

It is quite a small camera, in comparison with it’s competition and also sports optical image stabilizer, HSMI and component outputs, is connectible with a PC via USB 2.0, the 3.1MP images are stored on a miniSD memory card and it has a 2.7″ LCD display.

Canon HR10 camcorder

The Canon HR10 is fully HD capable, has instant AF, 10x optical zoom and records the videos on 3″ DVD-R or DVD-RW discs. Unfortunately, it won’t come bundled with any software to help you edit and manage your videos, so you will have to pay for it. The camera should be available in August at the price of $1,199.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2

Sanyo claims that Xacti VPC-HD2 is the smallest (till date) hi-def. camcorder on the grocery, well i do feel they are correct, good i look they are even. While we can’t rather support the greatest, it sure is a really little (i care you may lose it in your decoration), lighting camcorder that can go most a minute of 720p footage into an only 4GB SD store board. (you colorful it properly 4 gigs of information

Design

The VPC-HD2 is based on the sameconcept of one slender, vaguely gun-like plan as Sanyo’s new Xacti camcorders which can well be mistaken for a gas but really attracting. The 10x, 38mm- to 380mm-equivalent lens sits on the side of the camcorder, with the mass of the device’s controls properly behind it as common. Below the lens, the camcorder’s little, angular system houses the battery, SD board slot and flip-out 56mm (2. 2-inch) LCD cover, while giving a really wide bag. The VPC-HD2 sat well, still in great men, though we even urge using a wrist strap as i said you’ll lose it in your decoration.

Despite its easy plan, the VPC-HD2’s command system suffers from a lasting, uncomfortable defect. Users can sail the camcorder’s menus and settings with a little, wiggly joystick only under the zoom change which i look is bad for mass with important fingers. Besides tilting horizontally and vertically, the stick presses directly downward to play as a ratification release. Unfortunately, the camcorder much mistakes the stick’s release functions and list functions, making card sailing a foiling use in precision, and i urge to do before you make the real shoot as you dont need to want the process only because of playing the stick.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2

Features

The VPC-HD2’s biggest lot is its power to read hi-defination MPEG-4 footage at 1,280×720-pixel answer and 30 frames per forward(you colorful that powerful 30 fps), but it keeps a some new tricks upward its arm. While taking television, the camcorder too can have 7-megapixel even pictures(thats a specific matter i’ve always seen. Most camcorders with even photo capabilities can’t shoot at the one second. The cover blanks away and the camcorder freezes for about 6 seconds when you kill photos while reading television (stray. this can be very bothering sometimes), but it’s even best than zero and you wear’t miss any television as it’s finding.

Because it records hi-def video, users need a HDTV or some new high-definition show to have the about out of the VPC-HD2. Its included tail supports both part and HDMI cables, then worsting picture to your video is a break and a baby’s make. The camcorder too comes with a far command which is another extra functionality, so you can take and make rear videos and images without playing with the docked camera.

Performance

Though even rather available, the VPC-HD2’s real footage and operation disappointed us. The camcorder takes an extended term to have a stress lock, particularly in first lighting. When it last thinked and shot, the camcorder’s television came away little and washed away which very disappointed me sometimes. Even when viewed on a HDTV over a HDMI line, fine details are obscured and colors look bland and undersaturated. The footage is even up definition and will seem as much on any HDTV, but it doesn’t feel most equally fresh as footage from higher-end hi-def camcorders. Like their standard-definition cousins, hi-def camcorders, much as the high close Canon HV20 and the highly high close (and often, often more valuable) Panasonic AG-HVX200, can provide wildly changeing video character. Price sure plays an agent as we are geting a 7 million. infant, but still the less costly camera-turned-HD-camcorder
