BitMICRO has announced at CES a 832GB SSD and we were stunned to see it, but now it seems they’ve managed to increase much more the storage capacity and broke the terrabyte barrier. The Ultra320 SCSI SSD is in 3.5-inch form and is named the E-Disk Altima E3S320. It can store 1.6TB of data and the company promises transfer rates of 230MB/s, but unfortunately no price has been specified. We are sure it won’t be cheap, but we shall see once it gets in stores, in Q3 this year.

WHOA! That is REALLY BIG! Still, it seems like this was coming for a while now. If you think about packing 100 or so 16GB flash drives into a case, you will find that you could almost pull it off (approx. 3 drives by 7 drives by 5 drives), plus the internal RAID possibilities. Still that’s a LOT of storage.
