Onkyo, a company known for producing HD audio PCs has just finished a new version, named the APX-2 and built in partnership with SOTEC. The APX-2 features a 1.66Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T5500, a 500GB HDD, 1GB of RAM and a digital audio amplifier. Also, being made especially for sound, it’s extremely silent, with the HDD stored in a Super Floating HDD unit that ensures an excellent noise cancellation of up to 22dB.
Onkyo doesn’t use Vista’s volume mixer, due to it’s poor HD audio support, but comes with Pure Direct Audio Path ( PDAP ) pre-installed. Price and release date haven’t been disclosed yet, but it probably won’t be cheap.
