Apple Delays France iPhone Launch
There are different rumors around the Internet that Apple is currently delaying the release of their popular iPhone in France. It seems that there are 2 different laws in this country that do not head up with Apple’s wish to capture as much money as possible. One law passed in 1998 requires a mobile phone carrier to unlock any cell phone for a fee in the first 6 months of the contract and free after that, if the customer so desires. Apple was said to be in talks with Orange France in order to sell the iPhone but the carrier actually lost lawsuits that challenged the 1998 law and different other carriers have had the same problem. The second law states something about carriers having to sell both locked and unlocked mobile phones but we do not have much intel on this second law. Some people inside Orange have reported that there is a risk Apple will cross off France because of these regulations. After such fighting about the locking and unlocking, it is interesting to see what Apple will do. If they have to unlock the iPhone, they will probably cross France off the map.

Apple will run into this problem all over Europe, there is a requirement in all countries to unlock phones after a time. Mybe Apple needs to reconsider it`s buissnessmodel for the Iphone. It is great, but how much hassle do a consumer need
Too bad, I guess Europe will lose out.
