Animal Tests Could Be Reduced By Robots

Scientists got a new job for robots: they will replace the animals used for testing chemicals. This was the idea of the National Institute of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency, which think that by using robots they will reduce the number of animals used for tests, costs and time. According to Dr Francis Collins, the Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, the robots will test the chemicals on individual cells of some animal or even human organisms. He also said that the tests done on animals are not so accurately as the tests done by robots. Scientists say that it will take a while until non animal-based testing becomes the norm. We hope that it won’t take that long, because we care about the poor animals.
