AMD Quad Core Phenom And Spider Platform Announced

19 November 2007 One Comment

AMD PhenomFinally, Phenom, the expected AMD quad core processor is now official and along with it, a new platform has been introduced. Spider PC, the new platform puts together it’s technologies with software that should brinf the “Ultimate visual experience.”,as they state. The technologies and software we are talking about are the new AMD Phenom quad core processors, AMD 7-series chipsets, ATI Radeon HD 3800-series, CrossFireX and AMD OverDrive.Unfortunately, AMD still has low clock speeds, at least compared to Intel’s quad core processors. Here’s what AMD is offering: 2.2Ghz for $251 ( 9500 ), 2.3Ghz for $283 ( 9600 ), 2.Ghz for $300 ( 9700 ) and the 2.6Ghz Phenom for $350 ( 9900 ), the last two being available from the first quarter of 2008. Until now the news doesn’t seem to good, being much behind Intel’s offer.
