Sharp hasn’t been satisfied just with the 10 and 12 megapixel sensors for the ultracompact cameras, now announcing even a more compact 1/2.5 inch CCD with a 8.28 megapixel resolution. For achieving this resolution at such a low size, Sharp has used the industry’s smalled class cells, of 1.75 μm x 1.75 pixels. This sensor is 40 percent smaller than the other previous models and it’s planning to make things even smaller. The sensor’s price will be at $33, not very high.
