We have great news for those that want more flash memory for their laptops, but think it’s too expensive. STEC has announced a NAND technology and they claim to cut the prices down to only $2 / GB in two years, that will also sport great speeds and capacities.
STEC is preparing MLC ( multi-level cell-based ) NAND SSD drives with 90MB/s reading and 60MB/s writing speeds, better than the current hard drives and at good prices. Also they are going to offer the SSDs in capacities from 32GB to a whopping 2.5-inch 512GB. Now we just have to wait and see if it comes true, because if it does, they might have a success with sales.
