Eyes were bugging, mouths were watering, right index fingers were twitching for the longest time in anticipation of Nikon’s D3. After losing out in the battle to define the high-definition successor of the DVD,Toshiba Corphas turned its attention to the next best thing: the DVD. The Japanese electronics company is releasing a new DVD player that it says does more than previous models to improve the look of DVDs on high-definition TVs.
The XD-E500 will sell for a suggested price of $149.99, twice as much as regular “upconverting” players, but it is less than half the price of a Blu-ray player.

Dish Network has announced more solutions for the pending digital transition early next year. One of the products is the TR-40 CRA entry level digital to analog converter that is now available nationwide. The convertor is qualified for the converter box coupon program and for a limited time it is priced at $40, making it free when the government coupon is applied.

If news of an upgraded PSP wasn’t enough for you, how about a new PS3 bundle? Sony has announced a 160GB PS3 that will hit stores in November for $500. The limited-edition system will also include the rumble-ized DualShock 3 controller and two games: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and (via a voucher for the PlayStation Store) Pain. Sony was less specific on other details, but the presence of just two USB ports on the spec sheet would seem to indicate that this is basically a “Core” model with a bigger hard …

T-Mobile has just officially announced the 3G-capable Sony Ericsson
TM506. Overall its a nice looking handset with a slim compact design,
however it has one important item to point out, this is T-Mobile’s
first HSDPA handset.
The Sony Ericsson TM506 has a clamshell design and features built-in
GPS with TeleNav support, a Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slot, a
2-megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth. In addition the handset also
features both an internal display along with an external display that
shows the time as well as caller ID.

AT&T along with LG Electronics have just announced the availability of the LG Invision. Not just another mobile TV capable phone, the Invision offers a nice slim design measuring in at 4-inches tall by 2-inches wide and a little less than a 1/2-inch thick.

You need to look at the video accompanying this post. It’s an animation using a new 3D technology that renders an image so real you will think you’re looking at a real person. If I was one of those highly paid TV anchorpeople or a commercial actor, I would be very worried.
