Sanyo decided the EX-F1 slow motion digital camera from Casio needs some competition, so they released this Xacti HD1010 slow motion camcorder to keep them busy. The 1080i HD camera can apply face detection for up to 12 people simultaneously, andĀ has 300 frame per second slow motion as well as seven frame per second while still recording.

ASUS were present at Computex with a laptop that looked pretty old, and its design didn’t say there was anything unusual about it. But when you looked carefully, you could see an image projected on the wall in front of it, and that image came from a built-in projector from the oldish laptop.

By announcing their new Mini-ITX 2.0 model, VIA set a ‘minimum standard of the latest PC technology’. This standard includes new features such as a 16-lane PCI Express, to sustainĀ a state of the art graphics card, Blu-ray disc playback to DirectX 10 support and a 6-channel surround sound.

The 2.0 version of the ExpressCard will be updated to keep up with today’s growing speeds, and is almost sure to be available somewhere between ’second-half 2008 / early 2009′. The card will comply with SuperSpeed USB (to be released by the end of this year, ‘part of the USB 3.0 specification) and PCI Express 2.0.

Samsung just launched their new YP-S2 MP3 players in Korea. The shiny looks of the audio ‘bulbs’ drawn all the attention they could get. If you don’t already know, the device includes features such as MP3, WMA, DNSe audio processing, OGG support and comes in five colors. The ‘pebble’ MP3 player has a $54 price for 1GB of storage space, and about $65 for the 2GB models.

AMD have officially announced their latest platform for laptops, but the Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core processors, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3000 graphic series and the 780 chipset will not wear a ‘Puma’ sticker. The products will be shown to the public on Wednesday, at events that will take place in Taipei and Paris.

In an attempt to attract even more customers, Starbucks introduces their new free AT&T WiFi. The company finished their WiFi plans for AT&T registered Card users and reached an agreement with the phone carrier corporation.

Dell’s Latitude XT impressed many through its daylight view feature supported by such a portable design. Until now, nobody cared which of the daylight viewable or the LED one was superior. Rob Bushway, from GottaBeMobile conducted a long-term analysis and concluded that the LED-based machine is better.

This photo is what seems to be the appearance of Gygabyte’s M912 model, and along with it also came some specs about its components. Here’s what you should expect: an 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU supporting 1GB RAM, 8.9 inch WXGA convertible touchscreen display with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 768 and LED backlight, HDD options of 120, 160 and 250GB.

At the Quanta booth from WiMax Expo, Sony were caught presenting what seemed to be a generic prototype based on the Via OpenBook, thus joining the ultraportable, low-cost mini-laptop. The notebook unveiled a 1.6GHz Via C7-M processor manufactured by Sony.

After a group of British scientists were working on developing a battery-free pacemaker about 18 months ago, a team of researchers from the Osaka University announced the world’s first optical pacemaker. The device works by sending short but powerful laser pulses to control the rhythm of the heart muscles.
