Onkyo, a company known for producing HD audio PCs has just finished a new version, named the APX-2 and built in partnership with SOTEC. The APX-2 features a 1.66Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T5500, a 500GB HDD, 1GB of RAM and a digital audio amplifier. For your Gmail you could buy a plastic cube that lights up when you’ve got a message in your inbox, or if you have a little imagination you could create one for yourself. If you are missing a pet in your home, then you should seriously think about this dog-shaped lamp that always listens you, if plugged in. Or better said, it will always turn on if you pet his metal head and illuminate your home. It’s touch sensitive surface will turn it on and scale through different lightning levels then turn off. It seems like ClickFree considered it’s one-touch backup HDD wasn’t simple enough, so it even removed the touch you needed to backup your files. Their new HD700 backup drive sports a 120GB 5400RPM SATA drive and is 4.52 x 0.67 x 2.99 inches big, being USB 2.0 compatible. So you just have to plug it into the PC and it starts to backup your files, without even needing an additional power source. Unfortunately it’s only compatible with Windows and it’s priced at $169.

Scientists got a new job for robots: they will replace the animals used for testing chemicals. This was the idea of the National Institute of Health and the Environmental Protection Agency, which think that by using robots they will reduce the number of animals used for tests, costs and time. Bush has given specific orders to the Pentagon to destroy the satellite. This decision was taken because of the toxic that could harm the population in the area where it will crash. The device doesn’t damage the body’s immunity or cells, like an artificial heart, being a less invasive alternative. Well another bad news for HD-DVD. Toshiba is expected to cut down this format in the coming weeks although Jodi Sally, VP of marketing for Toshiba America Consumer Products, thinks that HD DVD is the best option for consumers due to its provided quality.
According to Jodi Toshiba will watch how things go for now given the fact that HD DVD’s price decreased over the past month. Everybody seems to know what is going to happen, but it looks like HD-DVD format gets a chance for the moment.

Solid State Disks or SSDs are being tested by “developers” in order to make them cheaper and to increase the capacity. The latest idea is to use a flash to SATA adapter. The usually price for this storage would be between $600 and $1000, but they managed to reduce the cost to an unbelievable $100. Damian Savio, a 23-year-old industrial design student from the University of Western Sydney has designed a lightning system for the window space, inspired from the Breezway window louver system. The Lightway uses OLEDs, with an advanced transparent Photovoltaic Nanoscale technology, that allows your home to be lighted by sunlight during daytime and lights it during the night.
The invention seems to be both useful and stylish, offering a unique style to your home. Those might be the stained-glass of the future.
