Asus’s low cost Eee PC has become very popular lately and they have big expectations on sales. They say that in 2008 they will ship 3.8 million laptops, while this year HP sold 6.2 million and Apple 1.4 million. Their expectations could materialize, as aren’t exaggerated and the laptops are very cheap, that might get them a lot of buyers.
Daily Tech states that some of the 3.8 million laptops Asus is preparing to ship will come with a stripped down version of Windows XP.

OQO made a press conference only to announce an update to the OQO Model E2, which is the European version of the Model 02. This updated model features HSDPA / UMTS 2100MHz and GSM / EDGE / GPRS 900/1800 MHz data. It will be priced at €250, somewhere around $367. That is all that OQO announced, but we hope to heare more about the updated OQO Model E2 soon.

Samsung unveiled the fastest memory in the world, the GDDR5, as they say. This new double-data-rate memory chip is four times faster than the GDDR3 (which is used on modern GPUs), transferring data at 6Gbps, and also uses 20 percent less power. NVIDIA and ATI received from Samsung samples of this chips. It is expected by Samsung that until 2010, the GDDR5 will capture more than 50% of the PC graphics market.

BMW has found that the Internet Protocol could easily replace and have much better performances than the current standards used for in-car networks. They are planning to connect all gear through Internet Protocol to reduce costs and increase performance, by reducing specialized components. Especially with the new IPv6 that will definitely make a create difference, but still the IPv4 is also good.
iDrive might improve in-car technology a lot and it could use a multimedia server or allow you to surf the internet through it.

Nokia could be working on a new N-Series slider. Some pictures show not only the schematics of the phone, but also what seems to be an accurate drawing of it. If you look very careful under the lens it looks like it has a writing of 6 or 8-megapixel. We should wait to see if Nokia will announce this new 8-megapixel slider or all of this is just a rumor.

The new Asus Eee PC will feature 1GB of RAM, an 8GB SSD and will come in Pearl White and Galaxy Black, being available in mid or late December, this year, for $499.
