Toshiba SCiB Won’t Explode, Neither Catch Fire [VIDEO]

You probably love Toshiba’s latest announcement, the Super Charge ion Battery and think it could explode or catch fire, after the events that took place lately with batteries. Well, Toshiba has announced and recorded a video ( watch after the jump ) of an externally short circuited battery and you can see that it won’t explode, neither catch fire.

Mind-Controlled Toys From Sega Toys and NeuroSky

Sega Toys teams up with NeuroSky to take gaming to a next level, by working on what they call “mind-controlled tech toys”. In the development process they are going to use the ThinkGear bio-sensor technology built by NeuroSky, that eliminates the need for contact gels, by using dry active sensor and maintain a small form factor.They haven’t said anything about what those toys are going to be, any release dates or pricing, but we aren’t expecting them very soon and sure not in 2008. NVIDIA Gives the Green Light to GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB

NVIDIA has released a new hot hardware in the 8800 series - GTS 512MB. Relied on a 65-nanometer fabrication, an unbelievable number of 128 stream processors, dual-link HDCP and PureVideo HD engine, NVIDIA SLI Technology, DirectX 10 support, a 650MHz core clock/970MHz memory clock. NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB gives 25% more graphics processing power than any other NVIDIA products ever released. This product arrived just in time for a perfect Christmas gift for gamers. And now a team from Japan has come to success by creating a flexible cell, thin as a sheet of paper, that’s also low priced, using traditional printing techniques. We’ve been talking last week about a tablet PC that was going to be released by Dell. Rumors that were saying the new Latitude XT was going to be released this week became true and it has some great feature, i’d say everyone will love it.

Toshiba SCiB Charges in 5 Minutes, Lives 10 Years

More than two years ago there was a rumor about the Super Li-ion batteries, that would charge very fast and lasts for many recharges. Now, finally Toshiba announced the release of those Super Charge ion Batteries, also called SCiB, that will unfortunately be only used for industrial use firsly, mostly for hybrid cars. Portege M700 Tabled Released by Toshiba

A new rugged laptop has been released by Toshiba, with a 12.1-inch LED backlit display, that switches automatically between finger and pen input. The Portege M700 sports a dual layer burner, latchless lid, spill resistand keyboard, a magnesium frame that absorbs shocks and weights 4.4 pounds.
As performances, it’s not something extreme, with a Santa Rosa Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz T7100 or a 2.4Ghz T7700, X3100 integrated graphics, up to 4GB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth. It’s prices start from $1,699 and can rise depending on configuration.

Apple’s ultraportable Macbook will show up for Macworld

The latest predictions from CNBC’s Jim Goldman for Macworld in January confirms the rumors about Apple ultraportables. He says that the new laptop will be twice thinner than the MacBook Pro currently on the market and will feature NAND storage. The price for this product will be around $1,500, just about the same price of the MacBook Pro. 700Mhz Band to be Used for Inter-Vehicle Communications System in Japan

The wireless spectrum we have been talking about recently hasn’t yet been auctioned, but Japan already has plans for it. Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has stated they are going to use the 715-725Mhz for an inter-vehicle communications system, as Tech-On published. The new technology is designed to reduce accidents, by allowing vehicles to communicate with each other and help the driver.They were planning to use the technology with the 5.8Ghz band, but it’s too easily blockable by obstables, so they decided to better use the 700Mhz band.

Rumor: PS3 owners to get Blu-Ray Profile 1.1

There are some good news for gamers and PlayStation 3 users and should offer them some Christmas gifts. They might release another PS3 firmware update and they might also make Profile 1.1 compatible with Blu-Ray discs, while the HD DVD was already compatible and had some standard features, like the secondary audio, local storage and picture-in-picture, while those were only optional for Blu-Ray.

Who Will Bid in the 700Mhz Auction

You all know about FCC’s auction that will take place on January 24th for the 700Mhz Wireless Spectrum, but we didn’t know exactly what companies are going to bid. And still we won’t know them all and who won until February or March, unfortunately, except the ones that announced their participations.Until know we know that the following companies will bid: AT&T, Cox Communications, Frontline, Google and Verizon.

Intel To Release 45nm Penryn on January 6th

We have been waiting for Intel’s 45nm Penryn processors, that were expected to be released in Q1 2008, but now we have a more precise date from DailyTech. If the date specified by them is right, then we should get the processors on January 6th. Intel should release the following processors: $316 2.5Ghz T9300, $530 2.6Ghz T9500 and $851 2.8Ghz X9000, also if DailyTech is right, they might also release the $241 2.4Ghz T8300 and $209 2.1Ghz T8100.

Ski Suits With LEDs Powered By The Sun

Willy Bogner transformed LEDs from decorative parts for clothes into useful ones. He made a suit that is powered by the sun and has LEDs on it to make you more visible while skiing. The technology has been created by Osram. The clothes have been shown at an event in Munich, Germany. Goods Limited Edition Zune to Come on Saturday

Microsoft got used to release a limited edition every week and it couldn’t stay away this week, so it released the Goods branded version. This shiny limited edition will come in 8GB and 80GB this Saturday at Seattle and there will only be 10 available, for the first 10 customers. We don’t know if there will be ten 8GB ones and ten 80Gb ones or 10 at all, but we know they’ll be expensive.
