Here we have the new PSP-2000. Let us see what was modified since the last PSP model and see whether or not it is worth it or not. To get right into the facts, the first thing I noticed is how light this PSP actually is. It is a lot lighter when compared with the original PSP. It looks a lot shinier and slick and you get the feeling that it will slip out of your hands when you are playing. The good news is that this will not happen as it is actually very comfortable to hold and play. We immediately noticed that the speakers have been moved from under the system’s face to it’s top. It is an interesting design move that makes the sound easier to hear. The D-Pad is a little bit higher when compared with the previous model. After you get used to this modification you will see that it is actually a little easier to play games. On the other hand the analog stick has exactly the same feel as the original and the headphone jack looks exactly the same, although in a slightly different location.Another modification visible is the moved wireless toggle. It is no longer on the side of the PSP but on the top. The Pro Duo memory card slot was also moved but the USB port remained in exactly the same place. We can also notice that (more…)

Nokia recently launched the unlocked N95-3, the model that brings back the originality of N95 with a few extra features. The most important aspect that needs to be discussed is HSDPA on the 1900 and 850 MHz bands. We also see a battery with a higher capacity, a camera lens that was recessed, twice the amount of RAM memory and two color availabilities in “Dark Sand” and “Black” for the back of the mobile phone. The front is still silver no matter what. We can notice the new Nokias in Chicago and New York and if you plan to purchase one the amount you need is $699.

Now here is something we do not see every day. Apple and Starbucks are teaming together. The popular coffee and more shops will be handing out iTunes download cards with the title “Song of the Day”. Starbucks thinks that they will hand out around 1.5 million songs per day, in a period between October 2 and November 7. This sums up to around 50 million downloads and the deal with Apple is aimed to promote the iTunes Wi-Fi store, to which Starbucks will give free access thanks to their T-Mobile Wi-Fi network. In order to redeem these cards you will need any computer that runs iTunes. Unfortunately, we did not find any Wi-Fi store that can make it possible to input an iTunes code. On the other hand Apple is probably working on it so we need to be on the look out. Unfortunately, you cannot pick the song you download but there will be good songs on the horizon including songs by KT Tunstall, Paul McCartney and the first “Song of the Day” is Bob Dylan’s “Jokerman”.

Sony recently announced the VAIO NR Series, the cheapest laptops ever launched by the company and still baring that beautiful textured finish we have come to enjoy with VAIO. We can notice a pretty nice 15.4 inch display and a good enough widescreen resolution at 1280 X 800. The most powerful processor can be noticed on the NR’s most expensive model, an Intel Core 2 Duo platform. In any case, it is not the specs that draw attention with the Sony VAIO NR Series, but the fabric-like finishes. Sony is quoted in saying about the as feeling like “cool linen to the touch”. There are also variations in design as we have one that has a matte silver case looking like linen with rock, one that is Wenge, copper accents on brown texture and Silk, which is quite white but very interesting. If you plan to purchase a Sony VAIO NR series model be ready to pay between $750 (for the 110 model) and just over $800. It looks like this line of models will go on sale next month and we can’t wait to get our hands on one.

There are a lot of rumors going round that the Sony PlayStation 3 will get an important price cut in the near future. While it would be great to get the not so popular PS3 at a cheaper price, it does seem that the rumors are not true, at least when talking to Sony about them. Recently, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe told GamesIndustry that all the speculation is simply not true. There will not be a $600 PlayStation 3 model sold in the United Kingdom. On the other hand, the company did hint as to price cuts in the recent past so we might expect to see a cheaper PlayStation 3 model in the UK. Only time will tell but the hard truth of the problem is that Sony really needs such a price cut to sell more units.
