The Nokia N95 multimedia computer has been voted as “The European Media Phone of the Year 2007-2008″ by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). Google just announced that it will be shutting down its video service, leaving users that have rented or bought content unable to view the videos from now on. An e-mail was dispatched to the users in which the company said money will not be refunded. Instead, customers are offered fixed credit on the online payment system, Google Checkout. Nintendo is still dominating the UK video game scene. Of the top 10 selling games in the last week, 8 are exclusive games for Nintendo’s Wii or DS handheld console. Nokia has offered the possibility to replace around 46 million batteries for its mobile phones after several reports of overheating while charging have been presented. It looks like the problems are appearing with BL-5C batteries manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006. Around 250 million batteries manufactured by others for Nokia are not affected.
Nokia said that there have been around 100 reports of overheating, and the battery in question has been used in more than 50 different phone models. The company’s statement was:

A team of researchers claims that the next generation of gadgets could be powered by flexible paper batteries, which could reach the needed properties to make them work. The breakthrough was done through the invention of a small such battery that is slightly larger than a postage stamp. It can release 2.3 volts and that is enough to illuminate a small light.

The early financial results for AT&T after the launch of the iPhone have been publicized. UBS showed us that the Apple phone helped out the company by giving a good enough reason to “Steal” business from the competition in the second quarter. AT&T thus took in 29 percent of the new subscribers, an increase of 4 percent when compared with the previous two quarters.
