verizon-wireless.jpg

Verizon Wireless CDM-7075 was presented at this years company show in Orlando. This available version is a bit different from the one presented there because it has a navy-and-silver color scheme instead of the all-black version that was in Orlando. At the price of $29.99 you can’t get a lot of options, but it’s a blessing the ones who just want a mobile phone with a VGA camera. The phone’s rectangular body is wrapped in silver, and you can find an extendable antenna on the phone’s upper-right shoulder. It’s not really compact(3.5 x 1.9 x 0.9 inches), but you can still keep it in your pocket or your purse, when you travel. It’s a little bit heavier than most of the phones at only 3.5 ounces, but don’t think that will weigh you down. There curves around the edges of the phone, can lead to a comfortable fit in your hand.

One thing I like to find on the entry-level phone is a 1-inch diagonal external screen, that can display information about date and time, your battery signal strength and the callers ID. tiIt’s a relavely basic phone so it can’t display the photo caller ID because of its monochrome LCD screen. When you open up the phone and you will find a lackluster 1.8-inch diagonal main display. The images may seem a little washed out and colors quite flat, but that’s all because the phone only supports 65,000 colors.
As a disadvantage you will have some trouble while reading the screen when it’s bright daylight. But you can adjust the screen’s backlight time, the contrast, and the size of the font (for some reasons there aren’t many options, just normal or large). The default Verizon menu interface doesn’t always make sense. You can see this for yourself with the photo gallery which is placed in the Get It Now menu.Underneath the screen you can find the navigation array, which includes two soft keys and a OK key that can be found in the middle of a four-way toggle. The toggle can also be used as a shortcut to the phones Web browser, the phone’s Get It Now menu (where you can access bunch of new ringtones, pictures, games), or just the phone’s Get Pix menu (where you can access the camera). There’s also the Send key for messages, the Clear key that also acts as a voice command key and the speakerphone key, and the End/Power key.The keypad has a pleasant blue backlight when it’s active.

The address book can sustain up to 500-entrys, and each entry has the room for five numbers and two e-mail addresses. The other features may include also that the entry of the address book is assigned to a group, a picture for caller ID, you have six polyphonic ringtones, you can set it vibrate mode, you have text and multimedia messaging options, voice command and voice dialing support, a calendar, an alarm clock, a clock that can show you the time all around the world, a notepad, a calculator, and a stopwatch. The CDM-7075 VGA camera comes with a few options that include three resolution settings (640×480, 320×240, 160×120), a self-timer , brightness settings, white balance settings, three shutter sounds plus a silent for the camera, some color effect settings, and finally an option for landscape or portrait capture mode.Despite all of this, the call quality is actually pretty excellent. You can talk on the phone up to 3.45 hours and a you can leave it to standby for 6.75 days. It’s not a phone that will amaze you with its design but it’s very practical and easy to use.

samsung-amoled.jpg

In the world of marketing where buyers are more impressed by the design than the dimensions, Samsung has made a change of state. They’ve made the most thinnest AMOLED(it stands for Active-Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display on the market.Samsung’s SDI shows us a 2.2 inch display that’s only 52 mm thin. This is pretty cool because 52 mm is almoust thin as your average card.
The 2.2 inch AMOLED display is forseen with a QVGA resolution that’s very bright.Samsung is trying to improve on its AMOLED display, for an example 17 inch AMOLED display with was almoust 1.8mm thin and that has showed in Octomber 2006.How much thinner can a mobile phones get, if this display is now at 2.2 inches?
